Ok, here’s the announcement: I have decided to officially start offering guided fishing trips. For the past few years, I have been approached on numerous occasions asking if I offered guided fishing trips. I’ve hesitated for a long time to do such a thing for a few reasons: 1) No guide license, 2) My boat and equipment is not up to par with that of other guides, 3) Competition. Well, after some pushing from a few friends, that’s all taken care of.First of all, I made the jump and got a guide license. Easy enough. Secondly, I realized, hey, I don’t have to have the fancy boat and electronics that many of the other guides have. In today’s economy, I realized that there are a lot of people who just want to go out and catch fish and they don’t want to kill their bank account to do it. I’ve found that a lot of people don’t care about the fancy boat and fancy electronics. They just want to get out on the water. Some do care, but that’s ok, they can pay the extra money and go to the other guides. That’s just fine. My clients will still catch fish without that stuff. My resume ought to be able to show that. And last of all, I am aware of the fact that there are many anglers in the Austin area who may be more knowledgeable or flat out better anglers on certain bodies of water than I am. I do not profess to be the King of Lake Austin or anything. I’ll leave that title to the Waldrop brothers as far as I’m concerned. However, I am confident that I can catch fish on any of the lakes that I offer trips at, and I can help others catch fish on those lakes as well. If you are looking to have a good time, catch fish, and further your fishing knowledge / education, I can help. If you are looking to unlock the secrets of specific Austin area lake and enjoy the comforts of a $50,000 boat + thousands of dollars worth of electronics, there are other guides that are more qualified than I am and I can even refer you to them. Many of them have lived here their whole lives and know some of these lakes like the back of their hand.
Anyways, check out the new page on this website entitled “Guided Trips” for details, and feel free to contact me with any further questions.
