Well, we’re a month into 2015 now, and so far so good. I’m pretty much right on track with where I want to be. My last blog post was about my fantasy schedule for the Big Sandy Creek Bass Club (BSCBC) tournaments this year. At the January meeting, we voted in the lakes for the first quarter of the year. I nominated all of the lakes that I had on my fantasy schedule through April, and my nominations won! WooHoo! That one kind of caught me by surprise. January was Fayette, February will be Bastrop, March will be Austin, and April will be LBJ. Just how I planned it. Now I probably won’t get any of the lakes I want for the rest of the year. Ha!
The BSCBC at Fayette was NUTS. There were six clubs holding tournaments out there that day. It was about as packed as I’ve ever seen a lake. Astounding. Unfortunately, I was unable to pre-fish for the tournament, so I went in pretty blind. I was able to scrape out a limit though for 10 something pounds and ended up in fifth place both as a team and as an individual. That puts me in fifth place of the AOY standings. I’m totally cool with that. Puts me in striking distance.
I tried something new at that tournament as well. I had the idea a month or so ago to get a harness for my dog, May-May, that I could mount the GoPro to. I strapped it on her at Fayette to see how it would turn out. I thought it was pretty awesome! It made for probably my favorite video I’ve put together. Check it out here:
I’ve also put together some other new videos, so make sure to take a look at the “Videos” page here on my website and find the new videos.
Last thing to mention is my guide business. So far so good! I’m pretty much right on track with where I want to be and getting the business I was expecting to get with being my first month going full-time with it. Actually, the first half of the month I was kept so busy being out on the water with clients that I never had time to try and get the business end of things in place! So I’ve kind of laid off on pushing to book trips during the past 10 days in order to take some time to get the business end of things in order. I still have a lot I want to do as far as advertising goes, but I got most of the big stuff out of the way. Feelin’ pretty good about it so far!
