Well, it seems like my last blog post has generated quite a bit of interest and discussion. For some guys, the ideas in that post are certainly nothing new, but for others, it was pretty eye-opening. Last night I actually had the idea to perhaps make an illustration or two to show the idea behind what I was describing with my casting accuracy scenario, so I went ahead and threw one together this morning. Now obviously, there are way more factors that go into something like this in a real life situation, and there are obviously problems with this scenario… [Read more…]
Become a Bass Catching Machine – The Difference Between a 5 Fish Day and a 20 Fish Day
There are a lot of misconceptions in bass fishing. I see guys “barking up the wrong tree” pretty often, and have done it a number of times myself through out my time in this sport. I’d think a little too highly of myself if I were to say that it doesn’t still happen on occasion. As a full-time guide, one of the biggest areas that I see guys barking up the wrong tree with often, is in understanding why they aren’t catching as many fish as other guys seem to. [Read more…]
New Froggin’ Video and More
Just a quick note. I’ve got a few new videos up on the website here. The main one being a video I put together all about catching fish on a hollow-bodied frog. Watch this video, and I promise it will increase your ability to be able to put more fish in the boat with these lures. There’s also some sweet bass hammerin’ action starting at the 10 minute mark of actually catching some fish on a frog. Just go to the Videos page to check it out. You can find it under the “Bass Fishing Advanced” section.
Also make sure to check out the couple of new Quick Highlights videos I put together from some recent guide trips. You can find them here.
BSCBC 2015 Finale at Fayette County Reservoir
Well I managed to end the 2015 Big Sandy Creek Bass Club season on a good note, but not good enough. I knew I’d have to show up with a really big bag in order to pass up the two guys in front of me in the AOY race. I was actually seriously shooting for 25 pounds for me to feel like I had a shot, but I certainly fell short of that goal. However, in shooting for a big bag, I did manage to get the largest bag of the tournament. In my mind, that’s a win. In case you are unfamiliar with how BSCBC runs their tournaments, the pay-out for the tournament is based on your overall weight as a team (your 5 fish, plus your partner’s 5 fish). [Read more…]
Winter Finesse Tactics Seminar at Bass Pro Shops
This Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 1:00 PM I will be conducting about a 20-30 minute seminar at Bass Pro Shops in Round Rock, TX. I will be discussing winter finesse tactics and the seminar will be at the fish tank in the middle of the store. I will be pitching some baits into the tank so that ya’ll can see first hand how I fish these various presentations and how the bass react to them. A lot of anglers struggle to catch bass throughout the winter time, but I can promise you that having a good understanding of these finesse tactics will help you catch more fish this winter!
