Come celebrate National Fishing & Boating Week next week at Gander Mtn in Round Rock, TX! On Wednesday, June 4th, they will be having a special Rod & Reel Night, and I will be there at a booth to help answer any rod & reel related questions, other fishing questions, or just plain BS about fishing! I got to have a lot of fun last week. It started off with a good day of catching Lake Austin bass on a buzzbait ALL DAY LONG. I recently received my new tournament jersey in the mail (finally!). The turnaround time on orders from Rayjus may take a long time since they are so busy, but their work is pretty darn good. I think my jersey looks great. So the first order of business was to go out for the day on Monday to hopefully get some new photos and GoPro footage while wearing the new jersey. It couldn’t have worked any better. This year seems to be no different than any other year. Full of highs and lows. The biggest setback this year has been boat problems. Always with the boat problems! Never seems to end. I’ve had to fork out a whole lotta money to keep ‘Merica goin’ strong. I’m hoping and praying that we are past the worst of it now and that she will run strong for some time now. [Read more…]
I feel like I’ve learned a bit the last few years about what it takes to win tournaments. This year I made a commitment to myself to fish to win. Previously, I’ve kind of fished to just…do well. I’ve always wanted to win, but at the same time, just finishing in the money was satisfactory. I’ve always just kind of fished to “save face.” I just wanted to be consistently good. If I got a limit every tournament, I was happy. Sure I won a few along the way, but towards the end of last year I had to face the fact that, I wasn’t really fishing to win. Last year I started realizing that I wasn’t as happy anymore with simply getting 2nds and 3rds. [Read more…]
