Inks Lake is sitting at a normal level with stained water and 2–4 ft visibility. Water temperatures have dropped into the 46–49° range, and the lake is now firmly set up in full winter patterns.

The most consistent bite has come from fishing crankbaits and drop-shot rigged finesse worms around rocky areas and submerged vegetation in up to 15 feet of water. The fish are grouped up and relating closely to these areas, so slowing down and thoroughly working productive zones has been key under these colder winter conditions.

Inks Lake is sitting at a normal level with stained water and 2–4 ft visibility. Water temperatures are around 58°, and unseasonably warm conditions have kept the lake from settling into a typical winter pattern.

The most consistent bite has come from fishing drop-shot rigged finesse worms, crankbaits, and jigs in 8–12 feet of water. Focus on rocky areas and remaining submerged vegetation, where large numbers of bass appear to be stacking up in predictable pre-spawn staging areas. These fish are grouped up and catchable if you slow down and work the right zones.

Lake Austin Fishing Report – December 22, 2025

12/22/2025 – Lake Austin is sitting at a normal level with clear water and 4–6 ft visibility. Water temperatures are around 61°, and typical winter patterns are starting to take shape.

The most consistent bite has come from fishing drop-shot rigged finesse worms along the deeper, outside edge of submerged vegetation in 16+ feet of water. There’s some sifting through smaller fish involved, but there are definitely some quality bass to be caught if you stay patient and work the right areas.

Inks Lake Fishing Report – December 29, 2025

Inks Lake is sitting at a normal level with stained water and 2–4 ft visibility. Water temperatures are around 60°, and the colder, overcast days have been producing the best overall results. With the recent drawdown behind us, the lake is still settling into its winter patterns.

There are two primary patterns working right now, both centered around drop-shot rigged finesse worms and crankbaits. The first involves targeting the small amount of remaining submerged aquatic vegetation in 8–11 feet of water. Most of the grass died off during the drawdown, and what’s left is very sparse and difficult to locate, often only showing up for experienced sonar users. The second pattern is fishing shallow hard cover and structure in creek arms, where both a drop-shot rig and a squarebill crankbait have been producing consistent bites.

Inks Lake is holding at a normal level with stained 2–3 ft visibility and water temperatures around 57°. With the cooler weather settling in, the bass have been staying shallow and relating heavily to visible cover.

The most consistent action has come from fishing drop-shot rigged finesse worms and jigs around shallow cover in less than 8 feet of water. Just about any shallow target—docks, laydowns, isolated brush, or rocks—is capable of producing bites right now. Keep moving and hit as many targets as you can to find active fish.
