Depending on location, anglers can expect anywhere from roughly 3 to 6 feet of visibility. Bass are relating heavily to submerged vegetation in 3–10 feet of water and are beginning to settle into more established summer patterns. Fish are increasingly schooling up, with productive areas often holding multiple bass.

Neko-rigged creature baits have been producing the most consistent action. Many of the fish being caught have been regurgitating crawfish and bluegill, indicating that both forage sources are playing an important role in the current pattern. Once a fish is hooked, it is common to see several additional bass follow it to the boat, making it worthwhile to thoroughly work productive areas before moving on. Overall, the fishing has remained good, with schools of fish continuing to group up around vegetation-rich areas.

Big Bass Score = 3; Numbers Score = 3; Total = 6

A Lake Austin giant caught on a Neko-rigged creature bait while targeting submerged vegetation during a strong early-summer pattern.

Lake Austin is offering water temperatures around 73 degrees, with clarity varying throughout the lake due to recent rains.
