Fishing at night can be a great way to avoid the heavy summer crowds on some of our lakes, and not only that, but it can really increase your odds of catching a Lake Austin giant. \u00a0However, night fishing does come with its challenges. \u00a0Low-visibility at night can make it difficult for beginners to feel confident in what they are doing as you have to rely almost completely on your sense of feel. \u00a0Trying to cast at targets along a shoreline can also be difficult as the darkness takes a toll on your depth perception at times. \u00a0However, if you can make it past these obstacles, fishing at night can be extremely rewarding!<\/p>\n

Last week I had the pleasure of taking out a husband and wife duo on Lake Austin for a night time guide trip and it was a blast! \u00a0They both managed to catch their new personal bests as well as put a 27-28lb limit in the boat between the two of them. \u00a0Their catch included two 7lbers, a 5lber, and a handful of other 2-4lbers. \u00a0Fish were caught on deep-diving crankbaits, a PowerTeam Lures Stone Dragger jig, and a T-rigged PowerTeam Lures Ribbon Hinge worm. \u00a0And, as usual, we used Ardent rods and reels matched with P-Line fluorocarbon to get them to the boat.<\/p>\n

This was the big one weighing 7-11 and caught on a deep diving crankbait at dusk.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

While her husband may have started off with a bang with two 7lbers, she managed to surpass him in numbers, plus catch her own personal best, by using a T-rigged PowerTeam Lures Ribbon Hinge worm.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
