I’ve been putting my shoulder to the wheel the last few weeks! It’s been a long time in the making, but I’ve FINALLY put myself in a good spot to try and start being serious about seeking sponsorships to help advance my fishing career. Most everyone in this industry trying to make it as a professional angler eventually realizes that it’s nearly impossible without the support of great sponsors. I’ve put a lot of work into building my reputation and getting my stuff together in order for companies to take me seriously when I approach them about sponsorships. Well, it’s finally starting to pay off as I’ve started handing out my resume to some folks the last few weeks. The latest companies that I’ve been able to strike deals with include: WackOjig, Frenzy Baits, and Papa Chops Rod & Reel Repair! All 3 of which are great businesses with great products that I am excited to be able to represent. You’ll see all of their logos / website links now found on the right side of my home page. Allow me to tell you a little about each of them:
Papa Chops Rod & Reel Repair: This is a company owned by a good friend of mine, Beau Reed (AKA: Papa Chops), and he offers a whole lot more than simply just rod and reel repair. Beau will not only repair your reels and clean them to cast like a rocket launcher, but he also builds custom rods, and has a complete line of hand-poured soft plastics that are da bomb! I’ve tried most of Beau’s plastics and caught fish on ALL of them. His hand-poured finesse worms are about the only ones I’ve been able to find that rival Roboworms, and with me being known for my drop-shotting, that’s a big deal to me. Another one of my favorites include a big paddle-tailed zipper-style worm called The Tickler. You’ll have to check out one of the colors he named “Meine’s Magic” after a particularly successful pre-fishing day we had in preparation for a tournament on Lake Austin last year. I could go on and on about several of Papa Chops’ plastic baits that I’ve had lots of success on, but you’ll hear more about his products from me as time progresses I’m sure.
Frenzy Baits: Bottom line, THE BEST UMBRELLA RIGS you will ever get your hands on! With this new tactic sweeping across the nation in the past year, it’s taken a little time for companies to perfect an Umbrella-rig, and I think Frenzy Baits has hit the nail on the head. One of the coolest features I believe is a rig they offer that has a SKIRTED head. I really think it helps to disguise those obvious wires a little better and translates into more bites. Everything you could possibly look for in a great Umbrella Rig, Frenzy Baits has got it nailed!!!
WackOjig: It’s no secret that I’ve had a lot of tournament success on a wacky-rigged senko. My only complaint with it is… senkos are EXPENSIVE and with the wacky-rig, they tear up really easily. I’ve tried several tricks in order to help preserve my senkos while wacky-rigging, and I’ve found a lot of really useful methods… however, all problems of torn up wacky-rigged senkos are solved with this awesome jighead, the WackOjig. You can most definitely expect to see some high tournament finishes from me in the near future as a result of throwing the WackOjig.
Anyways, that’s all I’ve got to say about my new sponsors for now. The other big news is that I’m actually negotiating more deals with other companies right now, so more sponsor support is on the way. One of which is a pretty big name, and may take some of you by surprise! Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement!
Good Looking Website Ander! I’ve had fun at the last couple tourney’s we’ve fish, and look forward to many more. Good Luck in all your future endeavors Ander! It’s great to be working with you.
