So every year I like to make a fantasy tournament schedule of sorts for the club that I am fishing in that year.  The past few years, I’ve been fishing with Big Sandy Creek Bass Club.  I’ve really enjoyed fishing with them so far, and I’m sure I will continue to.  Anyways, the reason I make this “fantasy schedule” is because like many clubs, we regularly vote in the lakes that we will be fishing each month.  At the beginning of the year, I like to try and map out what lakes I would like to see the club fish each month, so then I know what lake it is I’m going to nominate at the club meetings.  Rarely do I get to see my nominated lake voted in, but I still always try.  🙂   [Read more…]

Unbelievable.  Had a day I’ll likely never forget breaking my personal best bass with a 12lb 8oz behemoth from Lake Austin.  It only takes one cast on Lake Austin, and you never know when lightning will strike.

This year has been noticeably different than other years when it comes to big bass.  It has gotten to the point this year where I pretty much expect to catch at least one fish in the 5-10 pound range every time I go out, no matter what lake I’m on.  If I don’t, I’m disappointed and it was a “tough” day.  This is a remarkably different attitude than I’ve had in the past.  So why is this year so different?  What has changed from previous years?  Now, granted, the lake I spend more time on than anywhere is Lake Austin, which is a renowned big bass lake here in central Texas.  So is it the lake?  Is it better all of the sudden?  No, I don’t think so.   [Read more…]

This year has been a very weird one for me as far as tournament fishing goes.  I guess that overall, it has kind of been a bust.  This year has been plagued with boat problems, schedule conflicts, and sickness.  The plan was to fish the Media Bass and TTZ tournament trails.  However, I only ended up being able to fish a few events in each trail, and because of that, I do not qualify to fish the championships for either trail.  There were also a couple of tournaments that I went to, but ended up having boat problems early on in the day that cost me those tournaments.   [Read more…]
