Belton Lake is offering stained water with 2–4 feet of visibility, water temperatures around 72 degrees, and a water level approximately 1 foot below full pool. The best fishing has been targeting nomadic schools of bass roaming open water near the mouths of creek arms, particularly where these areas intersect with bends in the main river channel.
Forward-facing sonar has been key to locating and staying with these roaming schools, with weightless soft plastic jerkbaits producing the best results. Overall, the fishing has been fair.
