Lady Bird Lake is offering stained water with roughly 2–3 feet of visibility, water temperatures around 81 degrees, and a water level at normal pool. Summer patterns are firmly established, with some of the best fishing coming from nomadic schools of bass roaming open water and chasing schools of shad.
Weightless soft plastic jerkbaits have been producing well when targeting these roaming fish, with forward-facing sonar playing a key role in locating and staying with the schools. Depth is less important with this pattern, as the bass are relating to baitfish rather than bottom cover or structure. Drop-shot rigged finesse worms fished through submerged vegetation are also producing consistent bites. Overall, the fishing has been good.
