03/16/2026 – Lake Austin is sitting at a normal level with clear water averaging 4 – 6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 65 degrees. Bass are currently in all phases of the spawn, with fish positioned shallow throughout the lake. It’s common to find small stretches of water where bass are grouped up and anglers may experience short flurries of bites before going a while without another one.
Some of the most consistent bites have been coming on drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Texas-rigged stick worms fished through submerged vegetation on the main lake. Depth has not been particularly important as long as anglers are working their baits through productive grass areas where bass are staging, spawning, or guarding nearby beds.
