Summer patterns are now fully established, with bass relating to submerged vegetation in 14–20 feet of water as well as nomadic schools of fish chasing shad in open water.

Drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing around deeper submerged vegetation, while weightless soft plastic jerkbaits have been effective for open-water schooling fish. Forward-facing sonar has become an important tool for locating and targeting these roaming schools. Overall, the fishing has been good, with anglers finding success by adapting between the deep vegetation bite and the open-water pattern.

Depending on location, anglers can expect anywhere from roughly 3 to 6 feet of visibility. Bass are holding around submerged vegetation in 4–10 feet of water, with many fish continuing to group up in productive areas.

Neko-rigged creature baits and drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing the most consistent action when worked through submerged vegetation. Lake Austin is at a normal level with clear water offering roughly 4–6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 76 degrees. The lake continues to fish well, with many bass still relating to shallow cover despite warming conditions. Most fish appear to be in a post-spawn phase, although there are still enough fish lingering around spawning-type areas to keep shallow patterns highly productive.

Submerged vegetation on shallow flats has been holding the best concentrations of fish, particularly in areas that also feature nearby hard bottom or bait activity. Drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Neko-rigged creature baits have been producing steady action, especially when thoroughly working productive stretches that continue to reload with fish throughout the day. An early morning shad spawn has also provided an additional feeding window before transitioning into the grass bite later in the morning. Drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Neko-rigged creature baits have been producing the most consistent action when worked through these shallow grass areas. An early morning shad spawn bite has also been highly productive, while areas holding spawning sunfish have continued to attract quality bass throughout the day.
