Lady Bird Lake Fishing Report – Post-Spawn Flats & Bridge Shad Spawn Bite (April 18, 2026)

Lady Bird Lake is at a normal level with clear water offering roughly 4–6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 69 degrees. Bass are positioned shallow, primarily relating to flats with submerged vegetation. Most fish appear to be in a post-spawn phase, with very few bass still being found on beds.

Drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing the most consistent action when fished on and around these shallow flats. Early in the morning, a shad spawn around the bridges has been providing an additional opportunity, with bass actively feeding on shad near the surface. During this window, topwater lures, small paddle-tail swimbaits, mid-strolling minnow-style soft plastics, and drop-shot rigs have all been effective. Focusing on these feeding windows early and then transitioning to slower presentations around vegetation has been key to consistent success.

Lady Bird Lake Fishing Report – Chatterbait Bite & Post-Spawn Transition (April 11, 2026)

Lady Bird Lake is at a normal level with clear water offering roughly 4–6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 70 degrees. Bass are positioned shallow, generally less than 12 feet deep, and are relating to flats with a mix of submerged vegetation and harder bottom. Fish are in various stages of the spawn, though many of the better fish appear to be in a post-spawn phase. Bass are grouped up in specific areas, making it possible to catch multiple fish once a productive stretch is located.

Chatterbaits and drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing the most consistent action. Covering water with a chatterbait has been an effective way to locate active fish, and once a bite is found, slowing down and working the area more thoroughly with a drop-shot has led to additional catches. Overall fishing has been good, with a consistent bite throughout the day.

Lake Austin is at a normal level with clear water offering 4–6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 73 degrees. Bass are positioned shallow and are relating primarily to inside grasslines, especially in areas where grass mixes with rock. Fish are in all phases of the spawn and are grouped up in specific areas, making it possible to catch multiple fish in a short stretch once a productive zone is located.

Weightless soft plastic jerkbaits and wacky-rigged Senkos have been producing the most consistent action when worked along these grasslines. The key has been covering water until fish are located, then slowing down and thoroughly fishing that area to capitalize on grouped-up bass.

Lady Bird Lake is at a normal level with clear water offering roughly 4–6 feet of visibility and water temperatures around 70 degrees. Bass are positioned shallow on flats in and around spawning areas, relating to submerged vegetation and areas with a slightly harder substrate. Most fish appear to be in the spawning to post-spawn phases, and are grouped up in specific areas rather than spread out across the lake.

Drop-shot rigged finesse worms and light Texas-rigged stick worms have been producing the most consistent action when worked through these shallow flats. Once a fish is located, slowing down and thoroughly working the area has been key to catching multiple fish. There has not been a noticeable pattern tied to weather or time of day, with fish being caught consistently throughout the day.

Bass are positioned shallow and relating heavily to submerged vegetation in and around spawning areas. Fish are grouped up in general areas, making it possible to catch multiple fish in a short stretch once a productive area is located.

Drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Texas-rigged stick worms have been producing the most consistent action when worked through submerged vegetation. While numbers have been solid, it has been somewhat difficult to find bigger bites, with anglers often needing to sort through smaller fish before connecting with a quality one.
