Lake Austin is at a normal level with water temperatures around 70 degrees and clear water offering roughly 4–6 feet of visibility. Bass are positioned shallow and relating heavily to submerged vegetation in and around spawning areas. Fish are grouped up in general areas, making it possible to catch multiple fish in a short stretch once a productive area is located.
Drop-shot rigged finesse worms and Texas-rigged stick worms have been producing the most consistent action when worked through submerged vegetation. While numbers have been solid, it has been somewhat difficult to find bigger bites, with anglers often needing to sort through smaller fish before connecting with a quality one.
