Inks Lake Fishing Report – Spawn, Staging Fish & Early Morning Shad Spawn (March 21, 2026)

Inks Lake is at a normal level with water temperatures around 68 degrees and stained water offering roughly 2–4 feet of visibility. Bass are positioned shallow and relating to a mix of points, rock, and wood. Fish are currently in all phases of the spawn, with some actively spawning while others remain grouped up in typical staging areas. It’s common to encounter small groups of fish in these areas, especially those not yet committed to the bank.

Drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing the most consistent action, with the occasional better fish mixed in. Larger swimbaits are also generating a few bites, primarily around the same shallow staging areas. Early in the morning, anglers may run into a brief shad spawn pattern, where weightless soft plastic jerkbaits can produce a handful of quick bites before the activity tapers off.

Lake LBJ is at a normal level with water temperatures around 68 degrees and stained water offering roughly 2–4 feet of visibility. Bass are positioned shallow, primarily less than 5 feet deep, and relating to any available cover in spawning areas. Fish are in multiple phases of the spawn, with some actively on beds while others are staging nearby, making it important to cover water and key in on productive stretches.

Weightless soft plastic jerkbaits and drop-shot rigged finesse worms have been producing the majority of bites when worked around shallow cover. The most consistent action has been during low-light periods, with the early morning and evening hours providing better opportunities before the bite tends to slow during the middle of the day.

Inks Lake is sitting at a normal level with stained water and 2–4 feet of visibility, with water temperatures around 64 degrees. Bass are currently in all phases of the spawn, with fish positioned shallow throughout the lake. Water clarity has been gradually improving over the past couple of weeks as conditions continue to stabilize.

Some of the most consistent bites have been coming on drop-shot rigged finesse worms and soft plastic jerkbaits fished around shallow shoreline cover in 1–4 feet of water in spawning areas. The bass are grouped up, so when you catch one fish in an area it’s important to slow down and work that zone thoroughly, as it’s common to catch multiple fish from the same stretch of water.
